Detention
By Ben Nelson
Seeing old faces,
People not talked to in awhile.
The silence of kids writing.
Clicks from the back coming off a cell phone.
Zoning out, thinking time has froze.
The laughs from behind the closed door,
Mocking us.
Dazed your head begins to bob,
The cold desk looking more and more friendly.
Opening your eyes
Wondering if it was them blinking of finding rest.
Suddenly the happiest feeling in your lifetime, of the bell
giving back your freedom.
