What I Didn’t Know I Loved

By: Nicole Two Hearts

I didn’t know I loved my dogs. They are cute, cuddly, furry animals who give you their undying love even when you push them away. I didn’t know I loved America. America is called “The Land of Opportunities”. America is where a person has Freedom of Speech, freedom to say what’s on their mind and not be persecuted for it. America where a man or woman has Freedom of Assembly, where a group of people can get together and not have to be in fear of getting in trouble. America is a place where anybody has Freedom of Religion, free to worship his or her God, and not have to hide in a secret place, fearful of being found and punished. America is an amazing place. A place where a person doesn’t have to hide or be afraid of being killed for the things him or she believes in. I also didn’t know that I loved to dance. I love the way the rhythm makes your body move. I love the way the beat of the music makes your heart pump in excitement. I loved the way that the energy in the room gets your blood flowing and your adrenaline rushing.. I never knew I loved the sun. The sun rises and sets each morning and night and plants flowers and gives off light for the world. I didn’t know I loved the rain, the way it smells after it covers the world. I didn’t know I loved rainbows. Rainbows give off such beautiful and vibrant colors. There are so many simple things in the world that I didn’t know I loved.
