Maybe It's Not so Bad
by Rita Smebak
I didn't know that even with the whole world at my grasp
I still might want to call Roseau my home
I didn't know that I like life on a farm
Out in the country
Spacious acreage isolating me
Keeping out all the chaos
I didn't know that I might miss the colours of the country
The yellow of the canola contrasting the purple-blue of the
flax
I didn't know how much I'd miss the rhythm of DJ's canter
beneath me
The wind in my hair as we take the field for our own
Conquering it
I didn't know that maybe, just possibly, I might miss this
place that I've spent my whole life
