Leaving

By Ashley Kompelien

It's early, I'm tired

And then I hear,

Time to load up

As I roll out of bed,

Nonchalantly find my duffle,

I think,

Away for the weekend,

It'll be fun

But then I hear,

C'mon Ashley,

Get your stuff ready,

Whispering to myself,

Sitting by my bed,

The sun isn't awake yet, Why am I

Slowly I walk out of my room,

Greeted by a good-morning

And put on your shoes

It's time to leave,

For your team is waiting,

Heading to the cities, Hours away,

You've got a game to play,

It's time to leave,

As the door pulls shut, I smile, knowing that when I return,

I'll be greeted with the smell of home,

Like the scent of morning dew.
