Leaving

As I stepped down

the tan carpeted steps,

I took a deep breath trying to stay composed.

But when I saw their gloomy faces,

I began to cry.

As I said my goodbyes,

I heard my grandma say,

"Be strong, you will get through this."

I began to ball my eyes out at this point.

I looked out the window, and there she was,

smiling in a black suit with dark hair and sunglasses.

As my brother and I said our last goodbyes

and walk out the squeaky front screen door,

she looked so happy to see us.

But we were not happy to see her
