My Bedroom

by Karen

I open my door and jump onto my bed

and then I look up to a white ceiling

in some corners it's splattered with

accidental teal paint.

I see my dresser with its mirror

lava lamp, fish bowl and honestly

a pile of clean clothes that have not

been out away.

I hear the jumbling of the washer

and dryer across the hall, in the laundry room

and the smell of cooking from the kitchen.

I get up to pull the green and blue

curtains closer to each other.

I like to watch my glowfish swim

around in their little castle.

That is what it is like

in my bedroom.
