Then I Laughed

You told me you'd go and never come back,

Then I laughed at the thought.

And I remembered all the things that you'd done.

I realized you would leave and may never return.

Then I laughed at the thought.

I remembered the jokes that you'd tell,

The debates we had and the things that I've learned.

Then I laughed at the thought.

You had to come back you couldn't just up and go,

Not after what you have taught me.

But you left, and have yet to return.

And I have yet to laugh at the thought.
