Midnight Joy

Grade 10th
Roseau
The jingle of the hooks as we got in the boat
The slow ripples on
the emerald water
All around us smooth
glass
Sycamores and oak line
the water
While lilies doted
here and there
The gentle whisper of
the wind
As though it were a
gentle kiss
Then a twitch and
another
I rush to the pole
To fight the monster
on the other end
It was looking for an
easy meal
Not as easy as it
thought
I struggle with all
the might I have
Just to find it would
also
The epic battle between man and monster
Fish and Human
And like a rush of
euphoria
It's mine.
