Grade 10
Roseau
Running up to the rail
To catch my first
glimpse
Of water, shimmering
down
In a veil, shielding the rock
Behind it. The waves racing
Each other in their
rush
To tumble gleefully
over
The cliff, and come
together
In a whirlpool later
on.
Closing my eyes, the
playful
Waves became roaring
thunder
Crashing against the rocks at
The bottom. There was an
Eternal mist over this
place,
And if you got close enough
The water will drench
you.
I stuck out my tongue to taste
The salty mist, and opened my
Eyes again to watch its maid glide
Back to the dock. I looked
Again, back to the veil of
Water, and there was a
Double rainbow over
the bay.
The French and English languages
Stopped in my ear, and it was all
Silence and color.
