Insecurity

Words slither out of your mouth

annihilating the victim of your insecurity.

Your uncontrollable hatred for yourself

seeks out others now without pity.

Your desire to be victorious

was contaminating your conscience.

Acting with a selfish heart,

you aided in your own defense.

You used every excuse you had,

thinking of more each day ­

to destroy your enemy

with your hatred and disdain.

You still hurt inside,

you may not think it's true.

Once you stop denying it,

it's the best thing you would do.

Your inarticulate cries

only heard by the person you used to be.

I understood your pain,

I was there simultaneously

While increments were drifting

from your inner soul,          .

a foreign force took its place

and eventually took control.

You can save yourself of this torture,

you can ensure an ineffable life.

Just return to who you should be

and end your precocious strife.

The relationships and fights

were petty when we were young.

Why now do they matter so much?

Why only now have they stung?

So this proves how easily it is that we

can grow far from ourselves,

far from what we want to be.

Don't let society change you

don't think that it's a "must'.

Who is society anyways?

Isn't it just us?
