The Field at Rest
Austin Mekash
Grade 10
Roseau
The field is laying at
rest
Poplar tress guarding
that big green fence,
A scoreboard in Right-Center Field that hardly ever works
The grass is green and
smells so good
The infield is a
bright brownish-red
In the center a mound pops up
Everything is raked
and the lines are chalked
We get ready and the
fans show up
The catcher's mitt cracks as the pitcher start throwing
The metal bats ping
when they hit the ball
The fans cheered the
whole time
The game is over, the
fans have left
Once again the field
is laid to rest.
