Every Day Is a Good Day for Baseball

It was a good day for baseball

I could smell the new cut grass

The dirt is raked and fresh with new chalk

The umpire yells let's play ball

And the players take the field

I don't crack the starting lineup that day

But I know I will be ready if called upon

It is the last Inning and the game is tied

When the coach asks me to swing a bat

I stare the pitcher down as I walk to the plate

I feel the ball hit the bat, and the ball is down

The play is made, and they throw me out

As I make my way back to the bench

I am proud for I did my job

The runner is now in scoring position

Two more pitches, a pass ball a sac fly

The game is over and we win!

I didn't start, but was in the game

I was part of our victory that day and am very proud

Every day is a good day for baseball.
