Cold Summer Night

We ride our wheelers in the dark
Supposed to be back at midnight
The rain starts to
fall on us
Our bodies tremble
from the cold
And our only light the
shining moon
We reach the highway and listen for cars
But we hear nothing and we start to ride
The tar's as slick as
glass
We go faster, faster,
and then wide open
I glance back to see
my buddy
He's not too far
behind me
Then I see him lose control... .and crash
I watch his body twist
in half
And see parts scatter
on the road
I can't move, can't
speak, and feel so cold
When the ambulance finally comes
They say it is too
late
People standing all
around
Praying this wasn't
his fate.
