Cinder Kisses

The tangle of gold and silver

The deep sea green of the emerald

Sparkles

The velvety jewelry box holds all her scattered

Dreams and secrets

They flash and whirl about the cinder kissed box

The scars on her face match

Something once beautiful on the outside

Now scarred and singed from the bright

Flames.

Looked at in awe

Now charcoal ashes

Such pretty, bright colors and too frightened to move

A man in bright yellow with a forehead dripping with scorching

Sweat

Scooped her into his strong arms and carried her to

Fresh air

The only thing left was what was in her

Burnt hands was her

Jewelry Box

All her memories

Inside

She still holds precious jewels and secrets

Her heart grieving for her beauty taken away

Her soul, lined with lush velvet protecting her

Dreams and goals,

Is pulchritudinous and exudes beauty few people understand

She opens her Jewelry Box one more time

She thinks about how lucky that she was able to save at least one thing

One that had so many valuable things

Inside

Then she thinks how lucky she is to have these scars

To have bums and yet still be

Alive

She realizes how much she is despite those wretched

Scars

She realizes she's just

Cinder kissed and beautiful.
