When I was a giraffe, my grandma had to look up to me. My spots were big and shaped like a basketball. My grandma said, “Why are you so tall?” I rolled my eyes, “Duh, silly grandma. I eat all my cucumbers and they are healthy so I grow really big!” My grandma is a monkey and she swings in my neck. We are best friends because we “hang” around each other and have fun. We live in the Minnesota Zoo. When people bring chicken to the zoo, they take the meat off the bone and give it to us through the bars of gates. “Mmmmm! Mmmm! Mmmm! That’s good! I love chicken!” When we sleep, I stand up and my grandma goes up into the trees. We watch Scary Movie 4 from the tree together.
One day, Bob the Zebra, who just happens to be a good friend of my grandma, came to visit us. So, my grandma decided to swing on Bob’s neck for a while. This made me angry! I was so jealous. After all, she is MY grandma, not his. I got mad and said, “Hey, that’s not fair! Grandma, get back here!” Then my grandma said, “Just wait a second ‘Long-Neck,’ let me spend some time with Bob.” This made me feel SUPER-ANGRY! So I went over to the corner of my cage and cried my eyes out. I didn’t know what to do. I had to solve this problem.
So I asked Bob, “Do you want to be friends?” He responded with, “Yes. I would like that Daddy Long Legs.” So, I watched as my grandma “hung” out with Bob for a bit and then we all went to McDonalds together and then finished watching the movie together. I tell you what, I think the people at McDonalds thought they were seeing things and got really scared when a zebra, a giraffe and a monkey came to order and sit down for a meal.
