There was a cat named Charlie. He was afraid of dogs, nice and smart. He is 11 years old. But he did not have any friends. Charlie went to Lincoln Elementary.

One day at school Charlie’s home work was to write 1-5 sentences about if they were president how they would change the world. “The best paper will be the teacher for one day,” Teacher Mrs. Sunshine said.

Charlie’s paper said, “If I was President I would have no more war, and recycle a lot more.” Another sentence is, “Everyone in the U.S. would be friends.” The next day he was the first kid in the classroom. He looked on the board to see the Morning message. It said:  “Good morning class. Today is Thursday. We have computer lab today. Put your homework in the homework bin. And you can share it during morning meeting.”

About 10 minutes later all of the class came running in and didn’t even see Charlie so they all ran over Charlie.

Charlie’s Class is: Thomas the alligator, Kevin the tiger, Nahja the kangaroo, Leah K the fish, Adam the bird, Rabiya the hamster, Eleanor L the dolphin, Tyler the donkey, Andy the skunk, Xe the butterfly, Abby the pig, Jacob the cow, Mollie the cat, Terenzo the snake, Bella the Cheetah, Eleanor R the monkey, Emily the elephant, Kebron the goat, Special the wombat, Meron the bat, Justin the spider, Leah O the sea otter, Katherine the koala, Sean the wart hog, Niccolo the dog, Natalie the river otter and Ismail the raccoon. Mrs. Sunshine the teacher is a lion.

Charlie won the contest so Mrs. Sunshine said, “Charlie you get to be the teacher for one day tomorrow.” When Charlie went home he told his mom and dad, they were so excited. They bought him a new litter box. Charlie always wanted a new one. The litter box was blue, with lots of pictures of him inside. Also they got him a new pooper scooper. Charlie was so happy that night.

The next day no one would listen to him when he was the teacher. After a terrible day he finally got home. When he got home he went to sleep. The next morning he went to school and all of the class started to laugh at him. Seven days later kids were still laughing at him. Charlie learned to ignore all of the laughing. The next day on the news it said if you want to be president come to the Capitol. Charlie told his mom and dad that he wanted to be president. “Why?” said Charlie’s mom. “I want to be president because I want to change things,” Charlie said. “Like what,” said Charlie’s mom. “Like cleaner streets, recycle more, no war and better choices, stuff like that,” said Charlie. “So will you drive me to the Capitol tomorrow? Please!

“Yah sure. But only if you go to sleep right now,” said Charlie’s mom. The next day Charlie was so excited! He did not even eat breakfast. “Can we go now please”? said Charlie. “Just one moment some people have not had breakfast. Ok now we can go. I will meet you in the car. Ok Charlie,” said the mom. Charlie ran to the car and hopped in to his seat and put his seat belt on. Charlie’s mom walked in to the car, sat down, buckled her seat belt and started to drive. When they got to the Capitol, only 2 other people were running. Charlie felt a little better. Charlie walked in line.

“Next” said the president of the Capitol. “Hello I am Bob and I am the president of the Capitol and this is my assistant, Doug. “Hello I am Charlie.”  “And how old are you?” said Bob? “I am 11,” said Charlie.”  “Sorry you too young to be president and you are a Cat!”

“Well there is no rule about that,” said Charlie’s mom. “Fine you can try but you probably will not make it,” said Bob. “Maybe I will make it and maybe I will not,” said Charlie. “So why do you want to be president,” said Doug. “I want to be president because I want to change the world like recycle more and no war,” Charlie said. “Well that was good,” said Doug. “Meet us here in about 10 minutes to meet your competition.”

10 minutes later         Charlie and his mom came to the table. There were 2 other people running for president, George Washington and George Bush. Charlie said, “Hi.” George Bush said, “Are you running for president?”

“Yes yes yes I am,” said Charlie. “But you are a cat,” said George Bush. “So what,” said George Washington. “See you later,” said Charlie.  “Fine,” said the 2 Georges. One good thing happened. George Bush, George Washington and Charlie were there at the auditorium and had their speeches. And the bad thing is that today is the only day you get to talk to the people of the U.S.A. After they make their speeches the next day the people of the U.S.A. get to vote. “Here is George Washington with his speech,” said Bob. George Washington’s speech is, “Hello I am George Washington and I want to be president because I want to stop global warming.”

“And here is George Bush,” said Doug. “I want to be president because I want to live in the White House and I want to Rule!”

“Last but not least here is Charlie Conroy!”  “Hi, I am Charlie and I want to be president because I want cleaner roads, better choices in things, no war and recycle a lot more.”

The next day everyone voted and these are the results. Charlie = 10,000       George Washington= 10,000 and George Bush = 5. George Washington and Charlie tied, so with 2 tied the people have to vote again, so these are the results: George Washington = 10,002,   Charlie = 10,003.  Charlie won by 1 vote. The next day at school everyone saw him on T.V so they were all cheering for him. Everyone apologized and they all became friends.
